Heidi Gets A Perfume Because She’s A ‘Complete Woman’

What else does Heidi Klum have that the rest of us don’t? A fragrance deal with Coty, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of scents that can make you smell like your favorite celebrity.

But the fragrance, called Shine and due in stores this September, won’t just make you smell like the German supermodel. It’ll serve as a constant reminder that Klum is a more complete woman than you are.

Coty’s top brass says that’s why they picked Klum, a former runway walker turned Victoria’s Secret angel turned television host turned designer of sportswear collaborations turned walking empire. She’s a multifacted moving business, so all sorts of women feel connected to her on a personal level and will want to buy products with her name on them. Or something.

“She is a complete woman, very modern,” Renato Semerari, president of Coty Beauty, told WWD. “She is an entrepreneur; she is a showgirl,” he said, adding that Klum’s role on TV’s “Project Runway” “has given her a strong bond with the consumer.”

And it has. We don’t have anything against Klum — we’re big fans of hers and we admire her success. We’re just trying to figure out what other women are missing that makes them incomplete. If a woman — if any person — has accomplished a lot of stuff in their life, that doesn’t make them more complete. It just makes them accomplished. Unless of course we’re actually living in some crazy version of Animal Farm where all women are equal, but some are more equal than others. Is a woman not already a complete entity in and of herself? What are you trying to tell us, Coty?

We’re sure Shine is gonna smell awesome. We just hope Coty gets its marketing strategy sorted out before the fragrance gets to our local beauty counter.
