Gary O'Driscoll profile
Name
Gary O'Driscoll
Position
Club Doctor
Joined
February 20, 2009
Gary starts his second full season at Emirates following an intense first-term with the Club – and all the medical team will be hoping for fewer first-teamers on the treatment table during 2010/11.
Experienced in the sporting environment, Gary previously fulfilled the role of doctor for the Ireland rugby team for six years and travelled as official doctor on the last two British Lions Tours – confirmation of the respect in which he was held in the sport.
His links with rugby union are very strong, his father, Barry, played at full-back for Ireland and his cousin, Brian O’Driscoll, is one of the game’s greatest names and currently captain of Ireland.
Based at the Shenley training centre, Gary provides medical expertise for the first-team, Reserves and Academy.
A key-member of Arsène Wenger’s team, he is on hand at all first-team fixtures, and can occasionally be seen tending to players on the pitch – notably, he ‘stapled’ an Andrey Arshavin head wound together on the pitch during Arsenal’s game against Standard Liege last season.
