Better Hide Yo Kids From World of Warcraft Says CBS

KRQE, a local CBS News affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico, highlighted a recent bust of a child predator who met his victim in World of Warcraft of all places. Alex Trowell fancied himself a twelve year old girl from across the country, and began a relationship that ultimately involved sexting and plans to meet. The parents of the girl tried getting involved, and spent the better part of a year trying to drive Trowell away.

Like all successful World of Warcraft dating stories Trowell just couldn't ever give her up, and let her down. He drove all the way from Boise, Idaho to meet the girl, only to be turned around by police. Despite a run in with the law involving with the girl, Trowell continued to harvest the energy of the two working braincells in his head and bought the girl a United Airlines plane ticket to come meet him.

“This is a classic example you know, 12-years-old and 18, you think he would know better,” said Mondrosenthal.
The girl's mother tipped off police that the middle schooler was probably with Trowell. Nampa police said they caught the two as they were about to get into the shower together. The pair hadn't had sex, but had fooled around.

Classic example, riiight. Trowell is now facing several serious charges, and will most likely be on the receiving end of a warlock's staff or two come sentencing.

Parents spent the better half of a year keeping child away from this creep and failed? HMMMMmmMMmm how about no more parents credit-card use and ringing WoW up and demanding a suspension of accounts etc...

But this 18 year old must have been ultra desperate and not very good with the ladies to try something like this, that and he is a TOTAL FRICKEN RETARD !!! Link

What's the difference between a 12 year old having sex with another 12 year old and a 12 year old having sex with a 18 year old? Why being an adult start at 18? Some people at 15 are more mature than people at 45.

Sorry but I find all this BS. If he didn't force her I don't see where the problem is. When a girl get her 1st menstruation she want to have sex, that's nature. Some are still immature and don't think to much about it, but why restrain the ones that want? Just teach them basic rules and protection instead.

JPRacer is officially under suspicion as well.

A 12 year old is a damn 7th grader, 18 is a high school senior or has graduated from high school. If you don't see the problem in that, you're ****ed up.

An 18 year old is far more mentally/physically/sexually developed than a 12 year old...it has nothing to do with maturity level. A girl who is 12 can be easily manipulated by an 18 year old and coerced into doing things she doesn't have much knowledge about yet in life.

Never knew Ve3d had such a high level of support for pedophiles. I guess one person not thinking this is disgusting I consider to be a high level though lol.

You can put me under suspicion if you want I don't care. You think one way, I think another way. In some countries it's perfectly normal for young girls to get married and have children with much older man. Different cultures. I'm not saying it should be this way but I'm generally against rules that limit freedom. If she want to be with an older man, then let it be. But if she say "no" he have to respect that. Personally I prefer them older, 25-35.

I think folks are being a bit loose with the term "child predator." It's an 18-year old who was trying to get into ONE 12-year-old's pants. It's statutory rape if successful, yes. Is he a "child predator?" I think that's going a bit far.

Uh, I'm pretty sure the definition of predator is one who preys one something. In this case, he's trying to get into a 12 year old's pants. So yes, I would define this guy as a child predator.

He is a douche who couldn't score with 18 year olds, or 17 year olds, or 16 year olds, etc. until he finally found a 12 year old who couldn't recognize his douchyness. Technically, that makes him a child predator.

That's why I stopped playing WoW shortly after Cataclysm. Once you get out of the noob zones this activity is less likely to happen. I left WoW for Rift because I needed a change and these ever growing stalkers were getting on my nerves,

6.5 years of WoW was enough for me. I may or may not go back either. I watched too many of these stalkers wreck marriages and harm other people in the game itself.

MMO's are suppose to be fun and relaxing after a hard days work but it's not that way on WoW right now as people continuously nerd rage over stupid crap and these stalkers lurk around without a care in the world.

I'd say if you're hard up for a piece of you know what then go to a frigging bar or something.

You can only watch this kind of bad entertainment for so long. I stuck with wow for 6.5 years and I finally got tired of fighting with these stalkers and the other idiots. It's gotten way worse since WOTLK launched and now we have Cata and it's hit a point where how much is too much?

It's just no fun anymore when you're constantly watching these people grief people to know end but doing so in a manner that doesn't exactly break the rules if you catch my meaning.

I won't even let my nephew play wow because of the cess pool it's become in the various chat areas, mainly city chat and a few select zone specific chat areas.

No. You do not understand the gravity of the situation. Blizzard doesn't know how to handle this type of behavior and being 28 yrs old and putting up with this behavior on wow it gets very tiring. You can have all the patience in the world and try to ignore it but it gets to a point when you say enough is enough.

Raid groups were no longer fun anymore. 5 and 10 man groups were no longer fun anymore because at least one person decided to act stupid or rage about stupid crap.

The various situations that go on inside wow took it's toll. I hung around long enough to see everything.

Blizzard will not take sides on the STALKER front unless the police are involved. If you simply tell a GM that a stalker is following you they won't do anything unless the alleged stalker commits an act against their TOS.

Again, Falloutboy, I suggest you re-read my previous comments. I was explaining how visible this activity is in the game itself. Doesn't matter which realm you play on it exists on both horde and alliance. Moon Guard Realm is the worst of the bunch as it's gained many nicknames in the wow community.
