When you choose the Windows Phone, Android, or iPhone filter, our site will remember your choice and only show you content relating to the platform of that choice the next time you come back. If at any time you want to reset the filter and see all content, just click the "All" button.

Also, try the drop down on the right. It lets you filter by company, carrier, and more. Choosing a filter from the drop down will not permanently save your choice. Got It

Stephen Elop: The Pressure Is On For Nokia WP7 Devices This Year

Nokia's CEO Stephen Elop talked about Windows Phone, among others, in a 20 minute interview with Yle -- which you can find linked below -- saying that "the year 2012 is when we'll see a portfolio of products shipping in volume" referring to Windows Phone 7. There were lots of speculations on whether we'll see a Nokia-made Windows Phone this year or will it be delayed for next year, due to Mango delay rumors and so on. Stephen Elop said that there's a pressure on everybody, including himself, "to have those first devices this year" but there were no read more

HTC Surround Now Closer to NoDo; Microsoft Updates Schedule

With so many Windows Phone 7 devices having received their first major update to NoDo, it's easy to forget that there are still users who have yet to see their smartphones updated. When AT&T; gave the go-ahead for the Focus and Quantum's updates, HTC's Surround got left behind. We had heard a rumor that the update would finally be out in mid-May, but without any hard date. We still can't say exactly when to expect NoDo on the Surround, but Microsoft has finally updated its page informing users how the update approval and scheduling process has been going, read more

OS-Wide Chat Coming to Windows Phone 7.5?

In a regular developer communication newsletter, it seems Microsoft may have mentioned a few new features of Windows Phone 7.5 that we haven't heard about before. The newsletter mentions "support for real time communication and messaging and a broader connectivity to Skydrive." Neowin thinks the real-time communication and messaging thing might mean a fully integrated Windows Live Messenger feature, possibly to include Facebook chat like the desktop version of Windows Live Messenger (as well as the iPhone and Zune HD versions). It could also mean read more

Verizon's HTC Trophy Spotted at Best Buy

Verizon's version of the Windows Phone 7-powered HTC 7 Trophy, to be known simply as the Trophy, has apparently shown up on Best Buy's website, although there are supposedly none in stock to purchase. Normally we'd see this as an indication that a launch is imminent, but we saw signs that pointed to this model getting released as early as last month, so we're not really sure what to expect. The unsubsidized price shows up as $600, although that figure could well be just a placeholder. Notably, the listing confirms the model number we had been read more

Sprint TV & Movies In The WP7 Marketplace for Sprint HTC Arrive

When Sprint announced the HTC Arrive Windows Phone back at the end of February, we were told that it will come with Sprint TV and Movies, among others. The Sprint TV & Movies application made its way to the Windows Phone Marketplace -- if you have an HTC Arrive, you can access it via the Sprint hub section of the Marketplace -- and is available to download. With a lot of free content, Sprint TV & Movies also comes with premium features that require some extra dollars but unfortunately the application will only allow you to stream via your Data read more

No New Languages for Existing WP7 Hardware on Mango?

Microsoft's first major Windows Phone 7 update received a lot of attention from us and certainly included some useful improvements, but didn't really feel as substantial of a change as releases like Android 2.2 or iOS 4.0 did in comparison to their predecessors. Mango may end up going a long way to providing some of the new features WP7 users crave, if it delivers on all the expected improvements Microsoft has touched upon. One area that should be getting updated, multi-language support, promises to add 16 new tongues, but it turns out there's a bit of a read more

Microsoft Says WP7 Mango Has No Official Version Number Yet

We've told you that Windows Phone 7 Mango update will be called Windows Phone 7.5 from a slide presented at this year's MIX11. Microsoft has neither officially confirmed nor denied the information but Brandon Watson took the matter into his own hands. The Microsoft Director for Windows Phone 7 has tweeted the above, saying that "no version number has officially been announced", in response to someone asking about Mango and Windows Phone 7.5. While Watson is definitely right, a version number was not announced, we suspected by the build numbers floating read more

Windows Phone 7.5 Mango to Support Check-Ins

The big update every Windows Phone user is looking forward to is codenamed Mango and it goes by the official name of Windows Phone 7.5. We pointed out a couple of things that will be missing in that release -- hopefully Microsoft might prove us wrong -- but there will also be some nice cool features, like check-ins. Microsoft's Ken Dacey tweeted about checking in from his Windows Phone just to delete the tweet later on. Apparently the tweet was posted from WindowsPhone(WindowsLive)INT which might also testify for the upcoming Twitter integration. read more

Windows Phones Do Not Track Your Every Move

You know how everyone's talking about how it was discovered that Apple's iPhone and iOS 4 have been secretly tracking your every move? According to The Atlantic, forensic software can reveal a whole lot more about you just by accessing your iPhone. Android does a lot of the location tracking too, but in a slightly different way. So what about Windows Phone 7? PC Magazine decided to contact Microsoft, Nokia, RIM, Google, and HP about how the companies' mobile platforms store location data, and none, except for Microsoft, have responded. Microsoft read more
