New Statesman Editorial Internship

The New Statesman editorial internship is a great opportunity to spend time in a busy media workplace. Interns gain experience working alongside the editorial and publishing teams across both the weekly magazine and its website.

Interns work with our editorial team on tasks including research for the magazine, uploading website content, writing blogs and helping with the day-to-day office duties. They are expected to attend editorial meetings and are welcome to contribute ideas for the magazine and the website. However, interns do not write for the magazine. Each intern is given guidance, help and support throughout their time with the New Statesman.

Applicants must:
- be educated to degree level
- have a strong interest in politics and current affairs
- be self-motivated, efficient, well organised and reliable.

Previous experience of writing for print or web, publishing operations or politics is useful but not essential.

Information:
- All interns are based at our offices in Blackfriars, London.
- A standard placement is up to six weeks, although this can vary; three weeks is the minimum period.
- Placements are unpaid. However, we cover travel costs within London (zones 1-3).
- We have more applicants than places; candidates are selected on merit.

If you are interested and think you fit the criteria outlined above, please email your CV with a covering letter to Chris Denning: cdenning@progressivemediagroup.com. Please include the dates you are available to intern.

You will be interviewed prior to being accepted as an intern. Due to the high number of applicants we regret that we may not be able to respond to those who have not been offered an interview.
