The “no makeup” makeup trend has always baffled us. Somehow, it takes more time to look like we aren’t wearing any eyeliner than it does to swipe on a dash of black liquid and be done with it. But with Fall runways from Marc to Calvin filled with fresh young things as bare-faced as can be, we’ve decided to take the less-is-more look for a test-drive. The shades in Clé de Peau Beauté’s eye shadow quad in 20 aren’t too far from the actual color of our eyelids, so looking done without being overdone is easy. Click the image to shop.

Matching your lipstick and your nails might seem old-school, but the combination looked newly fresh on the Chanel Fall Couture runway. The dangerously sexy Jungle Red shade of this lipstick, lip liner, and nail polish set from NARS makes channeling your inner vamp a cinch. The color was named after the 1939 Joan Crawford movie. When it comes to dark Hollywood glamour, she’s not a bad one to emulate. Click the image to shop.

Leave it to Bobbi Brown to make blue eye shadow (not the most user-friendly color out there) a whole lot more accessible with her pretty new Denim Rose palette. The shimmery shadows are lovely enough on their own, but the multiple lip shades and coordinating blush make this a convenient vacation must-have (take that, TSA!). Click the image to shop.

When the weather turns balmy (as it has in New York City today), our long locks turn into a tight topknot. This summer, we’ve taken to accessorizing the look with statement headbands. Think Bonnaroo, not Blair Waldorf. Deepa Gurnani’s colorful number has a vaguely seventies vibe that pairs nicely with the high-waisted shorts featured in our latest In the Mood For feature. If the weather cooperates, we’ll be lounging beachside come Memorial Day, which means it’s time for a shore-worthy pedicure. We tend to favor pinks and corals for our toes, but we’re loving this hot orange-y red from Deborah Lippmann’s collection this year. The sexy shade, dubbed Supermodel and created with model Dree Hemingway in mind, goes on sheer, so you can build it up or tone it down to match your swimsuit. Click the image to shop.

Boho may’ve been one of the top trends of the Aughties (thanks in no small part to Sienna Miller and the sisters Olsen), but we recommend taking a page from Erin Wasson’s playbook and going more L.E.S. than Hollywood for a nouveau take on the look. Stacks of jewelry and an artfully dissembled outfit are complemented best by a few well-placed feathers, and we have a hunch Ms. Wasson would approve of these peacock plumes courtesy of Jennifer Ouellette. We imagine tucking the barrette behind our ear so that the feathers dangle low in our tresses, or even wearing them as a makeshift bracelet or necklace. Click the image to shop.
