Minor Kidnapped: A two-and-a-half-year-old boy Sahejpreet Singh was kidnapped from Baba Bakala when he was going with his sister. Two unidentified persons in a Maruti car pushed his sister and bundled the boy into the car. The father of the child was working in Dubai and had some dispute over money with a local travel agent. A case has been registered.

Jalandhar
Released: ‘‘Waheguru Bol,’’ a devotional album of Jalandhar-based singer Jaspal Singh, was released by Sagarika Music on Wednesday. Ms Jaya Sharma, a representative of the company, said the album contained eight tracks, including ‘Waheguru Waheguru Bol’, and ‘‘Nagri Anandpur Wasdi Rahe’’.

Seized: The police has seized huge stocks of duplicate books, which were being published in a clandestine manner in Delhi and Patna. In a press note issued here on Wednesday, Mr Balwant Sharma, general manager of Malhotra Book Depot (MBD), said a printing press based at Kadamkuan area of Patna has been sealed. Similarly, many duplicate MBD books, printed at a Jama Masjid-based printing press, had been confiscated by the Delhi police.

Booked: The city police has booked three residents of Wadala Kalan near here for defrauding Kulwinder Kaur of Bhakhariana village. Kulwinder Kaur had lodged a complaint in January, 2005, that his brother Satnam Singh had sold her 11-kanal land situated on the Jalandhar road near science city on the basis of a forged will with the help of Buta Singh and Paramjeet Singh, both residents of Wadala Kalan village. All three persons were found guilty after which the city police booked them under Sections 419, 420, 465, 466, 467 and 471 of the IPC.

FUNCTION: A function was organised at the Desh Bhagat Institute of Management and Computer Sciences, Mandi Gobindgarh, on Tuesday to mark world environment safety celebrations. It was organised by the Amloh unit of the Bharat Vikas Parishad in association with the Punjab Sabhyacharak Club, Amloh. Mr Parveen Jain, state executive member of the parishad, was the chief guest of the function. It was presided over by the local unit of the manch chief, Mr Dharamveer.

Phagwara
Seized: The police on Wednesday seized 365 pirated CDs/DVDs from a shop on the local Ramgarhia Gurdwara road. On the complaint of Mr Ramesh Lakhanpal of the Films and Folk Copyright Services, a police party raided the shop and seized the duplicate CDs/DVDs. The police has arrested owner of the shop Deepak Khosla and registered a case under various Sections of the Copyright Act against him.

TRAINING CAMP: As per directions by the Director (SCERT), Mr Sadhu Singh Randhawa, a 10- day training camp for upper primary school teachers of Block Samrala-II began here on Tuesday at Government Senior Secondary School for Boys. As many as 99 teachers are participating.

COURSE: A two-week short course on the health information system is being organised at Department of Community Medicine, PGI. Participants demonstrated analysing the routine statistical data from the health care system in computers on Wednesday. They were told about different computer programmes like Microsoft Excel and Epi-Info Package.

Rewari
ELECTROCUTED: A buffalo, owned by Mr Surender Singh, a son of Mr Dange Ram, was electrocuted when a high tension wire, which snapped abruptly, fell on her at Dharuhera, 16 km from here on Wednesday. The mishap occupied when the buffalo stood tethered beneath the wire.

SUICIDE: Sumer Singh (40), who had been ailing for a long time, reportedly committed suicide in Gokalgarh village, near here, on Wednesday. His body was found hanging from a tree in a nearby field. The Sadar police, which also reportedly seized a suicide note from his possession, treated it as a case of suicidal death under Section 174 of the Cr PC.

RALLY: Activists of the Haryana Unit of the All- India Kisan Sangharsh Samiti of the CPI ( ML) took out a procession here on Wednesday to press for the acceptance of their demands pertaining to farm workers. The processionists were led by their state convener Prem Singh Gehlawat. Later, they submitted a memorandum to Mr Nitin Kumar Yadav, Additional Deputy Commissioner.

Sonepat
LPG CYLINDERS SEIZED: The police, accompanied by officials of the Food and Supplies Department, conducted a raid on two shops on the Sonepat-Jatheri road, 8 km from here, on Thursday and seized 27 LPG cylinders kept illegally there. The police arrested two persons on the spot and a case under the Essential Commodities Act was registered against them.

CRUSHED TO DEATH: Vijay, a 4-year-old boy, was crushed to death by a truck here on Thursday. The police has registered a case under Sections 304-A and 279, IPC against the truck driver, who escaped after the accident.

CHEATING CASE: The Civil Lines police has registered a case under Sections 420, 406 and 506, IPC, against five office-bearers of a company on the complaint of Mr Bijender, a resident of Sector 15, here alleging that they had cheated him and failed to return the money which he had given for getting a higher rate of interest. Mr Sukh Dev Singh, Superintendent of Police, said here on Thursday that the culprits were identified as Sanjay Dua, Harvind,2 alias Mintu, Anjul, Sudhir and Hans Raj Grover, all residents of Farashkhana, Sonepat.

TWO KILLED: Two persons were killed after the motor cycle they were riding was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Ambala– Jagadhri national highway on Wednesday. As per sources, Raj Kumar (28) and Subhash, were returning to their homes after closing down their shops. They reportedly died on the spot. A case has been registered.
