The Proteome Informatics group (PIG) is part of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB). It is involved in software and database development for the benefit of the proteomics and the glycomics communities. Software tools support experimental mass spectrometry data analysis, mainly for the detection of posttranslational modifications. Databases store knowledge of carbohydrate attached to proteins as well as protein-carbohydrate interactions. PIG is also strongly involved in education at the University of Geneva (Master in Biology orientation in bioinformatics and biological data analysis), in the SIB PhD Training Network and in the production of the Ebiomics e-learning platform.
