What was once misinterpreted by Sega/Sonic Team fans as a direct challenge to Mario's 3D throne, NiGHTS was an altogether more esoteric delight. More of a time-attack built into wondrous, three-dimensional dream worlds, NiGHTS -- much like Mario 64 -- was such a new experience that it called for its own customized analog controller. It didn't have the same impact that Nintendo's jumping plumber did, but it did spawn a following that clamored for more of the high-flying harlequin, which resulted in the fan-service freebie, Christmas NiGHTS, and then...nothing. Sega's been poor at sustaining their IPs over the years, but even they couldn't stop Journey of Dreams producer, Takashi Iizuka, from giving it another shot, and we're here to give you an in-depth look at the game in interviews, video, screenshots, and music, and show you why NiGHTS' second coming is one of the few Wii games to really take advantage of the system's online functionality.
