In the season when the Club Celebrates the 40th anniversary of its first ‘double’ in 1971, the right-back from that famous campaign provides a direct link to the current first-team as Arsène Wenger’s trusted right-hand-man.
As an Arsenal player, Pat went on to lift the FA Cup in 1979 – when he skippered his beloved Gunners – as well as being a regular in the Northern Ireland team.
Having first joined Arsenal back in 1964, Pat’s commitment to the Club has been nothing short of magnificent, though his service has not been unbroken – he finished his playing career at Watford under Graham Taylor.
But his time away from the Club was relatively brief as he returned to take charge of the youth team in 1984, guiding the Gunners youngsters to FA Youth Cup success twice before entering a senior coaching role alongside Arsène, when the Frenchman arrived in 1996.
Pat had in fact briefly taken the reins as Caretaker Manager prior to the current manager’s arrival.
One of the greatest right-backs ever to play for the Club, Pat made 528 appearances.
