Psychiatry Rounds Online (APAPRO)

Introducing APA's listserv for residents entitled Psychotherapy Rounds Online (APAPRO). APAPRO will offer residents the opportunity to discuss their cases with other residents and experts in the field. In addition, we have invited experts from a number of psychotherapy disciplines to comment, so that residents can ask questions, learn about how different psychotherapies work in practice and also see common approaches. The listserv will operate as an electronic grand rounds - a resident in conjunction with their supervisor for the case, will present a disguised version of the case for comment and discussion both by his or her fellow residents and by prominent psychoanalysts, cognitive behavioral, supportive and interpersonal psychotherapists. Imagine being supervised by Glen Gabbard, Bernard Beitman and Aaron Beck! Through APAPRO, residents will gain valuable insight into psychotherapy techniques and how to handle especially challenging cases. This program is only open to APA resident members.

Each case discussion lasts for three weeks. Faculty include Glen Gabbard, Donna Sudak, Jennifer Downey, and others. The entire discussion thread will be archived online at the conclusion of that case.  Residents who wish to present must do so in conjunction with their faculty supervisor, who will be responsible for assuring privacy and appropriate case material for presentation. Case submissions must be short, and come with 1-3 questions for discussion.
