Since forming in 1999, Swedish pop masters Peter, Bjorn & John have been creating the kind of effortlessly fun music most other bands can only dream of. The RAC remix of their song “Second Chance,” off their new album Gimme Some, adds a little dance-floor thump and glitz to their Swedish pop.
Peter Bjorn & John had their big breakthrough in 2006 with their album Writer’s Block. The album’s lead single, “Young Folks,” with its inescapable whistling refrain, seemed to suddenly be everywhere at once. People who only got that far into their catalog were missing out though, because Writer’s Block was one of the best albums of the decade.
“Second Chance” has the same simple elegance as the songs on Writer’s Block. It’s the kind of music that takes only a few seconds to like, but then after 20 listens you’re still noticing little details that you hadn’t heard before.
