Google is set to pay $40 per share, a 63 percent premium to Motorola Mobility’s Friday closing price on the New York Stock Exchange. The deal will close at the end of this year or early 2012.

Quora, an emerging social question and answer site, has roll out its newest browse page to help improve the user experience on the site. The new browse page serves fresh, relevant and personalized content by pulling recently voted answers from the topics directly followed by the users and also topics related to their following.

Last October Vimeo introduced Couch Mode, a new leanback-style way to watch Vimeo videos in full screen from, well…your couch. The service was designed maximize the experience of watching videos from your television and this week Vimeo has announced some big improvements that have made Couch Mode a whole lot better.

Share@Site is a new product using SNORFID (Social Networking over RFID). It was used for the first time at Rock’n Coke 2011 Festival by Coca-Cola. With the new social media product, the attendees of Rock’n Coke shared their festival experiences instantly on Facebook throughout the event. Visitors were given their own individual RFID wristbands entering the event area. Then, they synchronized their Facebook accounts with their wristbands at user friendly registration kiosks.

It is hard to tell what is real or what is synthetic on the internet. That is why they are soliciting help from outside the military arena. If you have any ideas or programs that the military could use, you better hurry up. You have until the end of August to respond to their solicitation.

The long-lasting relationship between Groupon and Obtiva is now officially merged. The deal will bring most of Obtiva’s team members on site as internal Groupon engineers.

You may recall that back in June YouTube began testing a new feature that let users click on reaction buttons to decide whether or not a video was LOL, OMG, EPIC, CUTE, WTF or FAIL. This week they traded in the reaction buttons for a dropdown list that asks users whether they thought a video was funny, incredible, classic or cute.

When LivingSocial’s purchase of Ticket Monster is sanctioned, the social shopping platform will be operating in 23 countries. LivingSocial is in part owned by Amazon and already has a foothold in Asia. In June the company purchased Ensogo and DealKeren, creating a strong presence in Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Google will add The Dealmap to its commerce teams with plans to move the company’s employees to its headquarters in Mountain View, California. I don’t think there are any surprises about the acquisition. We all knew Google wanted to bolster their efforts in the local daily deals market. It was only a matter of time and finding the right platform to get the idea in motion.
