Lockerbie Bomber: David Cameron questions Gordon Brown's silence

David Miliband this morning maintained the UK Government's policy of silence on the freeing of the Lockerbie bomber. Since it was a decision for the Scottish administration, UK ministers insist it's right that they say nothing. They calculate that doing so will allow Alex Salmond's team to accuse "London Labour" of interfering in devolved matters.

The silence may have logic in the context of Scottish politics, but David Cameron thinks it gives him an opportunity at the UK level. He's said the Scottish decision was wrong, and now he's challenging Gordon Brown to give his view.

Mr Cameron's letter is heading to No 10. It says: "The public are entitled to know what you think of the decision to release Megrahi and whether you consider it was right or wrong."

What does Mr Brown think? Something tells me the Prime Minister isn't in a hurry to tell us.
