David Cameron hits turbulence – and gets another bump on the head

David Cameron has arrived in Bolton, whisked to the north-west by private jet while we mortal hacks rely on Virgin Trains (note to Richard Branson: the sandwiches need some work. Some fruit in the buffet would be good too).

Sadly for the Conservative leader, I hear his journey north was not entirely smooth: top-level aviation sources say the plane hit some nasty turbulence. The bumpy ride meant a bumped head for Mr Cameron. Aides were alarmed when the Cameron crown contacted the inside of the plane with an audible clunk.

Happily, I understand there was no harm done. But after the wounds inflicted by his infant son this week, this campaign is taking its toll on Mr Cameron's bonce.
