Conservative election chances have sizzled out

The Conservatives have just made a huge strategic error, a shameful mistake that could and should cost them the election. Their 8.30am press conference has just been put back by 30 minutes and – and I cannot understate the importance of this – there are no bacon sandwiches at the media centre. I repeat: no bacon.
Leaving the cream/dregs of HM Press Corps waiting for half an hour is survivable. Denying us bacon is not. In years to come, historians will look back on this as the moment David Cameron lost the 2010 election.
