Preparing for power? David Cameron gets his axe out. And chops logs

There's not much for politicians to do on polling day. After the photocall, the day is yours to do with as you will. You can relax at home, see family, or just catch up on sleep.

Or, if your name is David Cameron and you're waiting to see if you're going to become PM, you get your axe out and massacre some lumps of wood.

Mr Cameron has spent the day at his idyllic Cotswolds home in his Witney seat.  This afternoon, I understand, he spent around two hours in his garden, chopping logs.

Doubtless this can and will be used as some elegant metaphor for the tough fiscal tightening he'll have to undertake if he wins.

Cameron prepares to swing the axe…. Dave the Axeman… Cam cuts Labour down to size… Etc.
