OBR: British payments to the EU will hit £10bn
Another quick snippet from the OBR.
This year, "Net expenditure transfers to EU institutions" (taxpayers' money to the European Union) was £6.4 billion in 2009/10.
But by 2014/15, the OBR puts that figure at £10.3 billion.
Now, those figures can't take into account the coming round of budgetary negotiations in Europe. But they do underline what's at stake in those talks.
David Cameron will have to swing the sacred handbag of St Margaret very hard indeed if wants to keep Britain's EU membership fee below £10 billion.
