Climbing aboard Labour's sinking ship

Full coverage of UK politics
Remarkable. The Labour Party may be squillions of pounds in debt, subject to at least one ongoing police inquiry and facing the real possibility that Horwath Clark Whitehill, its accountants, will later this month refuse to sign off its annual accounts.

Yet people still want to clamber aboard the sinking vessel. I hear that one a certain Mr X  has recently signed up to sing the party song as a press officer at Labour's Victoria Street HQ.

Mr X was lately employed as a press officer at, er, the Ministry of Defence where he worked on the operations desk. From one warzone to another, etc, etc…. And quite what this says about life at MoD I can't begin to imagine.

ps  This post has been edited to remove the Mr X's real name following a request for anonymity from Labour HQ.  Any suggestion that working for the Labour Party is now so humiliating that staff cannot be named publicly is wholly unfair and I reject it entirely.
