PMQs: Gordon Brown sticks to the script
Hmm. PMQs had a very familiar feel to it this week. David Cameron challenges Gordon Brown to admit he was wrong to promise an end to boom 'n' bust, Gordon Brown insists it was everyone else's fault. Repeat as often as you like. Certainly no sign that the PM is prepared to entertain suggestions that he should alter his tone and show a bit of contrition or humility.
Brown: "This recession is the result of a global financial crisis. He is not winning this argument. This is a global recession and not just a UK recession."
Cameron: "Denial about the past, failure in the present, debt for the future."
Will the Brown-is-in-denial attack start to stick? As posts here show, it certainly has traction among the more politically-engaged web community, but has it reached the level of conversation among real people in pubs and living rooms across the country? My suspicion is that it's getting there. But for now, Gordon's not changing his tune.
