As someone who practically wore pajamas to class everyday as an undergrad, I have no idea what's appropriate to wear to grad school events, like to meet and greets or informal lunches. I have one coming up and would LOVE to hear your suggestions. I'm F by the way. Thanks a million.
I'm TAing a class this semester - undergrad statistics for psychology. I was on the schedule to TA one section of the class, and I got asked over the summer to TA another section because someone had to leave for some reason. I agreed. I also checked the schedule and the lecture is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:35-11:50 am; there are two lab sections Thursday evening and two lab sections Friday morning.
Last Thursday I met with my advisor and he asked me if it were possible for me to get out of TAing one of the sections of statistics and TA for his grad class. Someone also backed out on him and I'm the only person qualified and available to TA that class. It's on Wednesday morning from 9:00-10:50 with the lab directly after from 11:00-11:50. I've taken it already and it's easy enough, but trying to do two sections of stats and this class would be ridiculous. I asked, and the psych department sent out a total shout-out to the university and someone emailed today who looks qualified for the position, so I was relieved.
Today I was making out my schedule, double-checked the days and - fuck. When I checked the schedule back over the summer, I was looking at the spring schedule (fuck!). The fall lecture for the undergrad class is on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10:35 to 11:50. So obviously that overlaps with the time of my advisor's class.
I don't know what to do. I know that normally TAs are expected to attend the lectures here. My first instinct was to ask if I could miss the Wednesday lectures so I could TA the other class, but I feel like that might be a bad request to make, and I feel ridiculous now. I especially feel bad because they already sent out this email blast and someone emailed them back - the psych department has done quite a bit of work to try to find someone to replace me for that second section and I didn't even realize they were on the same damn day. So now I'm really worried. I don't want to disappoint anyone! I'm meeting with the professor for the stats class on Monday.
ETA: Sorry if this is confusing - let me tl;dr it. I am TAing a stats class that has lecture twice a week MW 10:35-11:50a and TAing a research methods course that has lecture and lab once a week 9a-12p. Both classes have a lecture on Wednesday morning and the times overlap My primary responsibility in the stats class is teaching the stats lab, which does not have a conflict. I'm wondering how I should approach this, with my primary thought being to ask if I can skip the Wednesday morning stats lecture.
For the following reaction in a 4.00-L container, it was found that 1.00 x 10-4 mol of C4H8 reacted over a time period from 10:58 A.M. to 11:15 A.M.
C4H8 (g) --> 2C2H4 (g)
What is the average rate, in M/s, for this reaction?
I took the time period of 10:58-11:15, which is 17 minutes, and did dimensional analysis to figure out what it was in seconds (1020 s). I set the equation up as
1.00 x 10-4 M
--------------
1020 s
and got 9.8 x 10-8 but the answer is 2.5 x 10-8. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Thank you to anyone that can help!

Finally edited and posted my Toronto Pride images.
