The Territory's education system provides high-quality choices from preschool to tertiary level in line with nationally recognised standards. Student-teacher ratios are among the lowest in Australia and the Territory's diverse population, including the high number of Indigenous students, provides a stimulating learning environment.

Education in the Territory is a partnership between students, parents, teachers, interested community members and the Northern Territory Department of Employment, Education and Training. Contact details, and maps of all public and private schools in the Northern Territory can be located on the Department's website.

A range of tertiary courses, vocational education and training is available throughout the Northern Territory, including Charles Darwin University, Yirara College and the Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education. In addition to these institutions, there are about 60 private training organisations registered in the Territory.

No matter where you live, there is plenty of opportunity to grow either professionally or personally through lifelong learning. Education has a high priority in the Territory, with people enjoying access to well resourced schools and institutions and a diverse range of education options.
