According to online reports, Elizabeth Taylor is planning to get married again at the age of 78. If she does indeed go ahead with the marriage, it will be her ninth. The man to whom she is rumored to be engaged is Jason Winters, a 49 year old music manager, who is working with Janet Jackson amongst others. The couple were spotted holidaying in Hawaii three years ago, during which they appeared to be very intimate together, and they have since been frequently seen in each other's company. 

Ms Taylor and Mr Winters have not made an official announcement and other reports have dismissed the engagement as no more than a rumor. Ms Taylor's health has not been good for some time - she has osteoporosis and is frequently seen in a wheelchair, and has a number of other medical complaints. Nevertheless, she has publicly dismissed suggestions that her health is much poorer than she is admitting. Her health has certainly allowed her to have a number of public engagements in the company of Jason Winters, who has been described as her 'constant companion'. She has also taken on the occasional stage role over the past few years. 

Elizabeth Taylor's last marriage, to construction worker Larry Fortensky, ended in divorce in 1996 after five years of marriage. Fortensky was also much younger than Ms Taylor and there was much debate at the time of their marriage that he was only marrying her for her money. After their split, friends reported that she didn't think that she would fall in love again, but it appears that she has indeed fallen for Mr Winters. Gossip columnist Liz Smith has claimed that Ms Taylor told her Winters was "one of the most wonderful men I’ve ever known, that’s why I love him.”

Elizabeth Taylor's love life has long been a source of news. Her most public relationship was almost certainly with Richard Burton, whom she married and divorced twice, and who she claimed was the love of her life, although they couldn't live together. Other marriages before Larry Fortensky, husband number eight, include Michael Todd, Eddie Fisher and John Warner. Her longest marriage has been her first one to Richard Burton, which lasted for ten years. Her shortest was her first marriage to Conrad Hilton, which lasted for less than a year. 

Whether the engagement rumor is true or not, Elizabeth Taylor is proving that it is never too late to make the most of life. Even if Jason Winters is no more than a companion, their relationship is ensuring that Ms Taylor, who has been described as reclusive in the past, does manage to get out and about. Then again, if Ms Taylor is in love with Winters and the feeling is not reciprocated, it could further damage her fragile health. Let's hope that Mr Winters is a man with morals and will continue to put Ms Taylor first.
