The Family Guy 150th episode brought back Shipoopi along with a host of new and disturbing - but ultimately hilarious events. The episode which ran 1 hour was officially dubbed “Brian and Stewie” and became a bone of contention for Stewie right away who couldn’t understand putting the dog before the human. From there it just gets weirder, funnier, and in the minds of some so gross it never should have been aired.
Some critics have already pointed out there is a difference between edgy and sick and feel the 150th episode of Family Guy was just sick. Those are pretty much the same critics that have hated the show from the get go however. There were some tender moments to go along with the rougher ones and in a roundabout way some serious issues were also addressed.
The premise of the show is Stewie and Brian went to the bank and found themselves accidentally locked in the vault while checking out Brian’s safety deposit box. At that point flashbacks of musical scenes from past episodes are interwoven with their time in vault. Some of the flashback clips were previously unreleased and those along with some of the events portrayed in the vault are what ruffled feathers.
For starters, Stewie was frightened when the vault door slammed shut causing him to soil his diaper. Through some roundabout logic, Stewie convinces Brian to eat the contents of his diaper as he eats his own poop all the time anyway. Seeing that happen causes Stewie to vomit at which point the then convinces Brian to eat the vomit as well as he reminds Brian “You do like vomit.” Then they push it a little further when Stewie finally gets Brian to tongue his bottom clean so he won’t get a rash - and apparently Stewie enjoys it.
The flashback scene that caused a stir was that of Mr. Herbert- the neighborhood pedophile - who has been in love with Chris Griffin for ages. Pedophilia is not a funny thing, but in the course of the previous 149 episodes Mr. Herbert has been regularly present and the schtick associated to him is always the same and hardly new. You know when he is featured it is going to have something to do with him and his aspirations to seduce and/or drug a young boy.
Some cited the scene where a drunk Stewie got his ear pierced in the vault as being too bloody, and that the scenes between Brian and Stewie bordered on animated bestiality. A further complaint was lodged over the discussion of Brian’s feelings about suicide, although it is fuzzy
