Dancing With the Stars week 6 recap, April 26, 2010

Week 6 of Dancing With the Stars featured their swing dance marathon and the first stage was set in place to send one more star home on Tuesday night after what may be a very close vote. In yet another 90 minute edition, there were going to be a few twists to this week - including letting the home viewers vote 7 times per phone line or email address - can anyone say potential for abuse? Still with Kate Gosselin gone and the lack of drama and witty one liners she inspired weekly lost, the show did in many ways promise to be better on double dance night.

Jake and Chelsie had a bit of a rocky week with their dance. They didn’t look terrible, but again Jake stumbled during their routine, and he really missed when it came to his pivots. Jake has a ton of energy and he looks like he’s having fun, but he has to tighten things up or he may be heading home soon. With a score of 21/30 they did okay, but the judges are getting tougher as the field thins out and mistakes like they made are going to cost more from here on out.

Evan and Anna started off rough. During practice Evan hit his head and suffered a mild concussion. Being a trooper, he keep going and got ready for a big week. The one thing about Evan and Anna week in and week out is they deliver the goods and this week was no different. They were superb together garnering a standing ovation from the fans, but the judges hit them for not really performing their Samba correct.

A regular fan would never notice it, but to the pros and judges the errors were there. Len cited it as their worst dance of the year even.  With a score of 21/30 things look rough, but it’s hard to imagine they are in any danger of being voted off.

Niecey was fun to watch as always, but something says she may be on the way out soon. The Argentine Tango really did look like her thing. She did really dance this week, her footwork was improved, and her posture was great. The judges all liked it , but for different reasons. As you could guess well in advance, Niecey had to remark on her weight again which is really getting tired at this point, but she did good. With a score of 21/30 Niecey and Louis made it a three way tie through just three couples.

The next couple working the floor was Erin Andrews with Maksim who are coming off their best week of the season. The Samba looked like it was going to be quite a challenge based on their practice routine, and Maks looks like he really is going crazy - but there is some kind
