Dharma Master Dao Zheng was dying of cancer when she painted this beautiful work. The painstaking endeavor accomplished by the Master was documented in her book "The Causal Conditions Behind Painting Buddha". The actual size of this portrait is approximately 4 feet by 8 feet.
Before leaving the home life to become a Buddhist nun, Dharma Master Dao Zheng was a doctor who specialized in tumor treatment. Her common name was Hui-Jen Guo. Prior to becoming a member of the Sangha, Dr. Guo gave many inspiring lectures on her experiences treating cancer patients, and the lecture notes became Buddhist gift books, which are popular in Taiwanese Buddhist community. In these books, the unpredictability of life and the power of karma are vividly described with humble and compassionate recollections. Through her gentle words, heartwarming stories of real people afflicted with terminal diseases and the challenges they endured make profound impressions in the readers' minds.
