Irish-born American actress (b. May 17, 1911, Boyle, County Roscommon, Ire.--d. June 22, 1998, Scottsdale, Ariz.), had a distinguished performing career that extended from the 1930s until the mid-1990s, but was perhaps best remembered for her film portrayal of the scantily clad Jane opposite Johnny Weissmuller in his title role as Tarzan in a half dozen jungle adventures. O’Sullivan, who attended convent and finishing school in London and Paris, was discovered in 1929 by director Frank Borzage in Dublin, was given a contract, and went to Hollywood.
