Energy Efficiency: To support our Nation’s energy goals, Lockheed Martin’s vision starts with energy efficiency—the cleanest, cheapest, fastest energy source. Lockheed Martin is one of the nation’s largest implementers of utility energy efficiency programs. Additionally, we run seven projects named by American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy as outstanding programs to help industrial and residential customers reduce energy use.
Alternative and Renewable Power Generation: The vision continues with leveraging our innovations and manufacturing capabilities to research, design and produce the next-generation of alternative energy solutions. For example, we are applying missile defense radar tracking software to solar energy systems to follow and capture more energy from the sun, and we are applying composite manufacturing processes from space programs to capture energy from the depths of the ocean.
Energy Management and Storage: In the near future, a new mix of traditional and alternatives energies will need to be smartly and securely stored, managed and distributed to consumers. Lockheed Martin teams are leveraging command-and-control, systems integration, and cyber security expertise to make that vision a reality.
Climate Monitoring: Space-based climate monitoring, an area Lockheed Martin has been supporting for 50 years, will ensure that our Nation and the world are making positive progress. We have designed and built 100 environmental monitoring spacecraft. Additionally, our data systems expertise can help manage, store and analyze environmental information.
Lockheed Martin is finding innovative ways to develop alternative energy sources and help customers identify and implement energy conservation and management solutions. The need for high-level capabilities in complex systems integration, project management, information technology, and advanced manufacturing techniques — along with the national security component of the effort — make energy solutions a natural fit for Lockheed Martin.
