Lord Stevens begins review into police role and reforms
Former Metropolitan Police commissioner Lord Stevens is launching what he says will be a fully independent review of policing policy, at the request of the Labour Party.
Labour announced the review at its 2011 party conference, saying it was time for a "serious vision".
But the government has criticised Labour for "sub-contracting decisions on police reform".
