Lord Stevens begins review into police role and reforms

Help

Former Metropolitan Police commissioner Lord Stevens is launching what he says will be a fully independent review of policing policy, at the request of the Labour Party.

Labour announced the review at its 2011 party conference, saying it was time for a "serious vision".

But the government has criticised Labour for "sub-contracting decisions on police reform".

June Kelly reports.
