William Hurt was born in Washington, D.C., the son of a State Department employee. Subsequently, William saw much of the world before he grew to be a man. The famly lived in the South Pacific during his early years, but when William was 6 years old his parents divored and he moved to Manhattan, New York, with his mother. He continued to vacation in exotic places with his father. When William was 10 years old his mother married Henry Luce III, heir to the Time-Life empire, and his life changed dramatically. William entered boarding school where he developed an interest in acting. His interestMore was further developed when he met aspiring actress Mary Beth Supinger while he was studying theology in college. The two travelled to England where William studied acting. He later returned to the U.S. and studied acting at Julliard. William did some theater work until cast in the film Altered States in 1980. William became one of the most sought-after leading men of the 1980s. He continues to snag top roles into the 2000s.

    Good actor if you ask me. I think his style is really something very original, and some of his movies are cool, though not all of them. I like his style and I like the way he potrays his characters, they always seemed to be very real and that is what makes him so great. I think that WIlliam Hurt is just a great actor.
