THE future of The Circle is under a cloud after one of its major sponsors quit the show.

Swisse Vitamins has walked after host Yumi Stynes and veteran journalist George Negus made insulting comments about Victoria Cross hero Ben Roberts-Smith.

Swisse was swamped with phone calls and messages on its Facebook site from angry customers.

"Thank you to each and every one of you for contacting Swisse," the company said on its Facebook site.

"We have spoken directly with Network Ten and have ended our association with The Circle."

The exit tops a horror week for the show, which is already coming a distant third in the ratings behind Seven's The Morning Show and Nine's new Mornings.

Sources close to The Circle suggested the show could be axed, but Ten denied the rumours.

"Absolutely untrue," a spokesman said.

The network has faced a massive backlash after Stynes and Negus commented on a photo of Afghan war hero Cpl Roberts-Smith in a swimming pool.

The Circle's Facebook site was flooded with complaints calling for the show to be shut down.
