Assassin’s Creed III debut trailer
Ubisoft's biggest game to date.
by [@salromano] at 01:00 PM EST, March 5, 2012 .

Ubisoft officially unveiled Assassin’s Creed III today. The largest project in company history, the game is in development at Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with six other studios. It has been in the works for over three years and has twice the production capacity of any other Assassin’s Creed title.

Set during the American Revolutionary War, Assassin’s Creed III follows the story of Ratohnhaké:ton, or Connor, as he’s adapted, a new hero of Native American and English descent. He will act as the voice of justice in the ancient battle between the Assassins and Templars, and become an assassin in the war for liberty. Players will make use of the most “stylized and fluid combat” in the franchise to date, venture across “vibrant, untamed frontier,” “bustling colonial towns,” and do battle on “intense, chaotic battlefields.” Iconic faces, including the likes of George Washington, will make their righteous appearance.

Powered by Ubisoft’s AnvilNext engine, “a revolutionary new game engine that delivers breakthroughs in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence,” Assassin’s Creed III promises to feature “a ground-breaking level of stunning graphics that bring Colonial America to life.”

Assassin’s Creed III features the franchise’s most expansive setting so far, along with an exciting new hero and exponentially more gameplay,” said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft. “Whether you’re a longtime fan of Assassin’s Creed or if you’re new to the franchise, you’re going to be blown away by the scale and marvel of Assassin’s Creed III.”

More information on the game can be found in the April 2012 issue of Game Informer. We have a short summary of the preview here, though we do suggest you pick up the magazine for yourself.

Consumers who pre-order Assassin’s Creed III at GameStop, Amazon.com, or Best Buy will receive a Limited Edition collectible case featuring artwork created by award-winning comic book artist Alex Ross.

Assassin’s Creed III will launch for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 30, 2012. A Wii U version is also in development.

“Powered by Ubisoft’s AnvilNext engine, “a revolutionary new game engine that delivers breakthroughs in visual quality, character models and artificial intelligence,” Assassin’s Creed III promises to feature “a ground-breaking level of stunning graphics that bring Colonial America to life.”” I have a hard time believing this part…unless they just mean “on consoles”.

Trailer looks amazing. Not entirely sold on the whole american war setting just yet (which isn’t to say I don’t think the game looks amazing), but I’m definitely looking forward to this.

Per usual, it was a nice debut trailer.

Some on the internet seem to be complaing though, about how the trailer was a bit underwhelming, and how it’s going to be the same game again.

Clearly they have not done any research to back that opinion, which is very common these days.

Oh well, this site has great information about the game, that proves this is not the same game as Revelations in a new time period.

I’m sure the next two trailers we see will be on a grand scale though.

Ubisoft always has a trailer or two for the series that is trailer of the year material.
