"The most beautiful thing I've ever seen"

Ukraine_Grunge_Flag_by_think0.jpg

Of all the hundreds of links I've tweeted, none has been received with as much enthusiasm and as many re-tweets as this one, showing Kseniya Simonova, the 2009 winner of "Ukraine's Got Talent."

Some of the RT comments:

Sand Animation is not even something I knew existed, but it's AWESOME;
8 minutos sublimes; Saw it, people cried; Vale twittar de novo; Uma das coisas mais inesperadas q eu vi este ano; mindblowing & inspiring; There's nothing to describe this. Just click the link; One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen;
(Україна має талант); Meu Deus! ; HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?; World War in sand; This might be the coolest thing I've ever see ; Girl tells about the war with pictures of sand. Please look till the end! This is so beautiful AND emotional!

Wow.

My favorite Got Talent video used to be of Connie Talbot:

Sand animation. Beautiful.

This was one of the most fascinating things I have ever seen.

This may be the most beautiful, amazing internet video I have ever seen.

I don't think I will ever forget it.

I guess it was a mistake to watch that third one with my kids.

I remember how much I wept when I first saw this. It went viral the first time a bit ago. And it is lovely to see it appear again. I never tire of watching it.

There is another round from the competition (available on You-tube as well) where she explores a son & his parents: estrangement, old age & reunion.

Have you seen that one?

Thanks for posting this. It is gorgeous. Happy New Year!

Like the many people I was swept away by this beautiful video so thank you for sharing it. Indeed it may qualify as "the most beautiful thing I've ever seen".

I don't know how I wound up here. I'm obviously late. But, wow. This performance has to be seen to be believed. I watched for 6 minutes before realizing that my mouth was agape.

Building sand castles will never feel quite as rewarding again.

The animation is a wonderful thing, but I was piqued by the haphazard editing of the video. I don't care about the audience's tears, just let me watch her work!

Seeing this incredible film of talent welling out of that wonderful girlchild of the Gods, reminded me somehow of a fiery Volcanoe from whose mouth there are many lava flows flowing in all directions. And to see it on eBerts blog tells me that there are many more facets about the man than meet the eye - he has empathy and vision and experiences beauty in motion - yes, beauty in motion! Watching that incredibly talented Ukranian girl move her fingers and hands on the dusty screen was in itself an incredible experience - the images which rose as her hand moved over the sand were almost like visions conjured up by some futuristic magic wand!
It is these little glimpses of the different talents of humans of diverse nations and creeds and colours, that make life a movie worth being watched by the CREATOR HIMSELF!!
Thanks Roger Ebert - if my daughter had not told me about you today - I would not have seen your blog and all the wonderful insights it contains
