The Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration should rethink their strategy on how to stay on top of the game here in Shelbyville, TN.   With all of the issues with dwindling attendance numbers and the lack of foresight into the other industries that support it.  You would think that spending half a million dollars on fixing (expanding) their facility is absurd.

Would it make more sense to do the demolition for safety & aesthetics, and not put the seating areas back; spend that money instead on filling the ones they have – lower the ticket prices, more advertising, reduced vendor fees, etc… ?  Plus, if USDA changes the pad and chain rule resulting in less action in the performance horses, attendance will only continue to decline.

If OSHA would find out about this little picture that was taken from the Times Gazette, wouldn’t that be a large violation not having a Hard Hat or Steel-toed Safety shoes around the area where work is being completed?

Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration is losing their support

Why did they approach the Shelbyville TN and Bedford County Governments asking for money to invest in advertising, Does this Celebration really bring in that much money into Bedford County or does it seem that they are crying wolf?  I really am having a hard time understanding how they can afford half a million dollars for something they clearly don’t need over getting more people interested in the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration and the other Tennessee Walking Horse industries that support it.
