Usually, when folks are casually talking about movies, they ask questions like, "Who's in it?"  You rarely ever hear, "Who's the production designer?"  Well the production designer on the twenty-third cinematic adventure of James Bond is Dennis Gassner, an Oscar-winner whose credits include Big Fish, Jarhead, and a whole bunch of Coen Brothers joints.  The latest video blog from Skyfall focuses on the contribution of Gassner, the architect of Bond's environment.

Attention, Bondophiles, a bunch of new images from Skyfall have appeared online, along with the latest in the ongoing series of videoblogs.  With the exception of two official images, up until now we've been seeing exclusively spy photos from the set of Bond's 23th cinematic outing, but these are actual stills, giving a sense of how nine-time Oscar nominee/cinematographer extraordinaire Roger Deakins is handling the first Bond feature to be shot digitally.

Last week, we saw two new video blogs promoting Skyfall, both highlighting the lovely ladies of James Bond's latest globe-trotting adventure.  We were introduced to Naomie Harris in intensive weapons training as MI-6 field agent Eve, as well Berenice Marlohe as the probably dangerous or at least-bad guy-affiliated Bond Girl Severine.  Beautiful women are great and all, but what about Ian Fleming's James Bond, the world's foremost spy and unstoppable ladykiller?

For decades, Ian Fleming's swinging superspy James Bond has been chasing bad guys around the world, beating the hell out of people, and generally acting as an embodiment of male wish-fulfillment.  As such, Bond is nothing without the beautiful Bond Girls he so frequently beds.  In Skyfall, the twenty-third cinematic adventure of 007, Daniel Craig will play Bond against two new additions to the Bond Girl canon: Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe.  Two new official video blogs offer profiles of Harris and Marlohe's characters, as well as some nifty behind the scenes footage.

Just yesterday, unofficial photos from the London set of Skyfall revealed our first look at Javier Bardem as the still-mysterious villain of James Bond's twenty-third cinematic adventure, during which Bond will surely kill myriad bad guys, sex up many ladies, and drive most recklessly.  Today, we have another crop of set photos that aren't as excited as yesterday's first look, but they relate specifically to Bond and his tendency towards classic British automotive engineering.

Since the twenty-third installment in the Bond franchise began filming, we've seen a healthy number of images from the London set, usually featuring Daniel Craig sharply dressed as the international superspy.  Today, a new crop of Skyfall set photos again show Craig as Ian Fleming's lady-loving, ass-kicking secret agent, but more importantly, they also provide our very first look at Javier Bardem as the film's mysterious villain.  Be warned of spoilers, though, since the unofficial images contain Bardem in a costume that could ruin a surprise in the film.

With twenty-two movies under its belt, in many ways there's no franchise bigger than the one starring Bond, James Bond.  The biggest (quantitatively) series around is getting even larger, as this year's Skyfall is set to debut in IMAX simultaneously with its Stateside theatrical release on November 9th.

The twenty-third theatrical outing for Ian Fleming's super-spy will be the first to utilize the jumbo-sized format, but it is not being shot partially using IMAX cameras, like Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol or The Dark Knight.  Instead, Skyfall is being shot in standard fashion and will be embiggened in post-production.

Yesterday, a behind the scenes image from the set of Skyfall was released in order to tease a new videoblog from director Sam Mendes, the Oscar-winner and prestige-picture helmer stepping into his first franchise action movie.  Today, that videoblog has arrived, and short though it may be at just a minute and a half, it includes lots of footage from the set of James Bond's next adventure, as well as Mendes waxing enthusiastic about the material and the series in general.

After seemingly endless delays and literally years of fevered rumors whilst it was still being referred to as Bond 23, we are now creeping ever closer to the November release of Skyfall.  A new completely legit and official behind the scenes image reminds of us of the fact that the film is currently in production, showing Judi Dench back in the saddle as M, with cinematographer Roger Deakins setting up a shot and director Sam Mendes sip-sapping a coffee.

In an ideal world, the twenty-third onscreen adventure of Bond, James Bond, would involve the international superspy teaming up with Barney from How I met Your Mother to wear incredibly snazzy suits, fight bad guys, and, of course, bed innumerable gorgeous women with a minimum of effort.  Were that that happen, Skyfall would be legend – wait for it – ary.  In the absence of a Barney Stinson-James Bond team-up, there's the actual new Bond movie and it's currently shooting in London, the ostensible home of Ian Fleming's globe-trotting sex machine.  A new crop of set photos have made their way online, showing Daniel Craig on the Skyfall set looking wearing an outstanding suit and holding a tiny gun.
