Fast National ratings for Thursday, May 10, 2012
The season finale of "The Big Bang Theory" was down from its numbers last week, but it was still the night's top show among adults 18-49 and beat "American Idol" by almost a full point in their common half-hour. "Idol" was pretty much even with last week, as were the season finales of "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation" last week.
Elsewhere, "Grey's Anatomy" continued its late-season positive run by posting its best numbers in three months. The finale of "The Vampire Diaries" held steady with last week's ratings, as did "The Secret Circle."
CBS led Thursday's total-viewer rankings, drawing 12.1 million people and a 7.5 rating/12 share in households FOX (11 million, 6.7/11) came in second. ABC was third with 7.5 million viewers and a 5.1/8. NBC (3.2 million, 2.0/3) came in fourth, and The CW (1.9 million, 1.2/2) trailed.
The top two networks traded places in the adults 18-49 race, with FOX's 2.9 rating narrowly beating CBS' 2.8. ABC took third with a 2.2, followed by NBC, 1.4, and The CW, 0.8.
