In January 2004, Margaret R. DeFrancisco became the second President/CEO in the Georgia Lottery Corporation’s history. She joined the GLC after serving as Director of the New York Lottery, the largest lottery in North America. During her five-year tenure in New York, sales at the Lottery grew from $3.6 billion to a record-breaking $5.4 billion, with a record transfer to education of $1.829 billion.
Prior to joining the lottery industry, DeFrancisco was appointed Executive Deputy Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles by Governor George E. Pataki. In 1993, DeFrancisco was elected Monroe County (N.Y.) Clerk. Before entering government service, DeFrancisco spent nearly twelve years as owner of a commercial printing company located in Rochester, New York.
A native of Rochester, DeFrancisco holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from the State University of New York.
