Thomson Reuters Introduces 70 New Educational Courses in 2012 for Tax, Accounting, and Audit Professionals

Thomson Reuters has added 70 new courses to its Checkpoint Learning platform. The courses help U.S. tax, accounting, and audit professionals build necessary knowledge while also completing their continuing professional education (CPE) requirements.

“Our Checkpoint Learning CPE helps professionals understand new tax laws, accounting pronouncements, and auditing standards; improve workflow; advance technical expertise; refine professional soft-skills; and gain practice expertise to expand service offerings,” said Ken Koskay, vice president of Learning Solutions for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters.

New courses for 2012 include 30 instructor-led online titles from Thomson Reuters PASS Online and MicroMash brands and more than 40 on-demand webinar titles. With the launch of these titles, Checkpoint Learning now offers more than 400 online self-study courses and more than 450 webinars.

“With regulations becoming more stringent and audits more frequent, professionals need to be well-trained in highly complex areas of taxation. As an example, courses in our Sales and Use Tax suite provide information that professionals must understand to comply with state and local requirements and prepare for an audit or appeal,” said Koskay. “Following the 2011 launch of several state sales and use tax courses this year we’ve added 11 new courses to help professionals effectively manage the sales and use tax practice area."
