Naphyrone
Following advice from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs on 7 July 2010, naphyrone (also known as NRG1) and its related analogues have been brought under the control of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 as Class B drugs, with effect from 23 July 2010.
The importation ban under the open general importation licence (OGIL) has now been revoked and replaced by the restrictions on importation under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
The maximum penalties for Class B drugs are:
- possession - up to five years' imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine
- supply ('dealing') and production - up to 14 years' imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine
