Science advisory committees

The Home Office acquires expert scientific advice through independent advisory committees.

We believe it is important to bring independent expert scrutiny to bear on how we use and invest in science and to the major programmes and policies where science and technology are critical elements.

The Home Office science advisory committees are:

• Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD)
• Animal Procedures Committee (APC)
• Forensic Science Advisory Council (FSAC)
• Home Office Science Advisory Committee (HOSAC)
• National DNA Database Ethics Group (NDNAD ethics group)
