Construction Jobs Outlook

Construction Jobs: There are over 20 occupations in the field of construction. Construction managers, sheet metal workers, carpenters and electricians are the jobs with the best employment outlook.

Education: While some laborers and helpers can learn their job in a few days, the skills required for many of the jobs take years to learn; usually through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training.

Scope: Construction is one of the nation's largest industries. In 2004, there were 7 million wage and salary jobs and 1.9 million self-employed and unpaid family workers in the field. Almost two out of three jobs in construction were with specialty trade contractors -- primarily plumbing, heating and air conditioning, electrical and masonry contractors. Around one out of four jobs were with building contractors.

Construction jobs are at an all-time high for the second year in a row. And with an 11.4% projected growth through 2014, construction jobs alerts should fill your inbox on the regular. Steady construction jobs are out there, the most popular by far being carpenters. Be sure to bring your hard hat and experience with you.
