The Shadow Cabal is a high-impact Action/Adventure in an epic fantasy world of elves, dwarves, orcs, dragons and magic.

  • Launched: Oct 12, 2012
  • Funding ends: Dec 11, 2012
  • Don't want to forget? We'll remind you by email 48 hours before funding ends.

The Shadow Cabal is an independently-produced, feature-length fantasy film, packed with tons of action, magic, suspense, orcs, elves, dwarves, undead, dragons, demons, mermaids, cultists, and some humans too. And a couple of gods thrown in for good measure. We are filmmakers, but we are also huge fantasy fans. This is the film we'd love to see. The Shadow Cabal has been compared to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and has been called "live-action World of Warcraft", but the truth is that there is nothing like it out there, and we're thrilled with what we're seeing.

Also, the film has already been shot and edited, and we're only looking for additional funding to finish up an epic visual effects sequence, so this is not some pie-in-the-sky dream. Our trailer is actual footage from the film, so you can get a good gauge of the quality.

Keltus, a devoted agent of the ruling Order, is on the trail of the enigmatic Shadow Cabal. When his leads turn cold, he must team up with a tormented elven bounty hunter, Nemyt, and an infamous orc raider, Kullimon, to infiltrate the Shadow and try to thwart their nefarious purpose – to unleash the God of the Undead.

The Shadow Cabal is set in the rich fantasy world of SAGA, and is just one of several storylines we have crafted in this vast and epic realm. The success of this film will allow us to delve deeper into the lore and create exciting new adventures in a land of many races, many gods, and many epic tales.

Danielle Chuchran (Nemyt) - a blossoming action star, Dani has become expert at killing monsters with a sword (see her in Osombie for verification). Also, she's starred in several regular movies, including 12 Dogs of Christmas, Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat with Mike Myers, ABC's Little House on the Prairie, The Wild Stallion, and Snow Beast with John Schneider.

Richard McWilliams (Keltus) - he's Irish, but we love him anyway :) Richard has burst onto the scene as a dramatic hero, first in his starring role in Dawn of the Dragonslayer, and now as the majestic, but complicated Keltus. We expect big things of him to come...

Paul D. Hunt (Kullimon) - you won't see his face, but you'll feel his power! Another Osombie alumnus, Paul is a versatile and physically gifted actor, having starred in Scents and Sensibility, Snow Beast and Eleventh Hour.

The film is already shot, a trailer has already been cut, sound and music are under way, but there's still a bunch of work left to do. In particular, we need to create a giant demon for the epic climax of this film. And to achieve this, we need your help and financial support. In the real world, conjuring demons is unfortunately not as simple as throwing a few virgins into a chasm reaching down into the depths of hell. So, instead we are building a silicon demon suit, putting an actor in it, and filming it on a green screen stage. Then, we are digitally enhancing the beast - scaling him up, adding wings and fire and smoke and all sorts of goodies, and then adding him to the scenes we've already shot. So please back us, or else we may be forced to search out some virgins and a pit...

People pledge an amount and choose a reward. At the end of our 60-day Kickstarter campaign, if the combined total of all pledges for our project meets our $20,000 goal, then the credit cards of those who pledge are charged and we receive the funds to finish our film. If we don't meet our goal, then the money is not withdrawn from your account and no rewards are provided :(. If we exceed our $20,000 goal then the extra funds will be used to make the movie even better - so keep pledging! All funds raised are used directly in the finishing of our film.

We're not looking for charity, we're looking for an alternate sales venue - that's why our rewards reflect fair market value. Don't think of it as a donation, think of it as a pre-purchase. If you want to see this film, buy it now through Kickstarter - you'll probably get a better deal from us than from whatever retailer ends up selling it in your country, and you'll help make our film better!

\We're a small group of independent filmmakers who love making movies, and have been at it for about a decade. It's our full-time job, and every film we have made has received worldwide distribution. We do pretty much everything ourselves, from conception to financing to production to securing distribution. We love fantasy and science fiction and know there's others out there like us, who we aim to please. Click on a name to see our IMDB profiles:

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

Film is a complicated technical exercise, and often unforeseen difficulties arise, causing budget and scheduling overruns - particularly when complex visual effects are involved. That being said, we are an experienced group and have successfully completed and released every film we have started. We have produced several visual effects heavy projects in the past, and see no reason why we shouldn't continue to accomplish our goals.

On the plus side, this film is largely complete. A great deal of the risk in the project has already been mitigated, and we are too far along to turn back and give up. We are seeking funding to complete a visual effects sequence, and have the personnel to pull it off, regardless of complications.
