i dont know about design, it doesn’t appeal to everyone, but moto’s build quality is generally exceptional. This recent engadget review had this to say about the RAZR HD series;
Strictly from a material selection and construction standpoint, the RAZR line belongs in a class alongside HTC’s One series and the iPhone — it’s just that good./blockquote>
The manufacturer has sacrificed some style in the name of functionality, but has somehow managed to make an already premium-feeling device feel even more like a luxury item./blockquote>

i have the white. I absolutely love it. I did have an interesting experience with it though, it slid from my fingers when i was taking it out of its cover… (just my luck), slid across the ground for about a foot. I picked it up, and there was a very obvious scratch across the aluminum back. I was shattered, BUT THEN… i rubbed it a little with my finger, and God’s honest truth, most of it is gone now, you cant even tell there was a scratch, unless you look super-closely. That is a small advantage of the white/silver model.

yeah, that’s a “worse case scenario” thing that happened to ya, but it does happen. luckily it is very rare.

g-talk & messenger do all of that exactly, the only difference is integration into the sms app. That would be absolutely perfect, since g-talk is cross-platform, so the other side doesnt need to be on android. they just need a gmail address.

it is not. you can send messages in bulk, but replies come separately. and need to be responded to individually.

No doubt, but what are expecting that GPU to do exactly, that the Adreno 320 wouldn’t be able to handle, practically?

well, it can’t be hands-free. you need to physically prompt the device to listen at specific times in order to get focused results. The problem is just that the process of prompting the device isn’t up to snuff at the moment, or maybe i should say; isn’t efficient enough.

I think Josh was quite effusive about the design, he said it was like a gem. Short of a video showing fellatio on the device, i don’t think you can praise it more. A gem is magnificent, it is chiseled, cut and polished to a perfect gleam. There has to be certain limits of praise, within the confines of good writing and journalism also. That is the difference between feeled and felt. :)

I dont think 8gb will ship on the final product, they’re not likely to undercut on price as they did with the nexus 7, most likely the 8gb is for these mock-up/test devices only. I mean how many gb’s does a test device really need? I could be wrong though, stranger things have happened.

yeah, launching it is fine. but once you’re in it, trying to hit that little mic in the corner is a pain in the behind. Hotword detection is one solution that is integrated, but it slows down google now, AND it’s accesibility within google now is inconsistent.
for e.g: You can say ‘google’ to launch the speech recog. but only when you’re in the main google now screen, and not in the search results page of google now, so when you have results, you have to hit back and then say ‘google’ again for a new search, or reach up and try to pinch the itty bitty mic. It’s a minor gripe that eventually becomes a major annoyance.

Oh, I’m not doubting that they are significantly different, they definitely are. I’m just saying that there’s only so much power you can run through android and its apps, before the performance gains become increasingly negligible to the user, despite huge jumps in chip capability. For now, it seems a quad-core S4 pro is close enough, and more than good enough. So I do not think we will see a new nexus this year with a brand new cortex A15, cause that would be overkill.
I’ll be happy to be wrong though.
