Superman Leaves 'Daily Planet' Newspaper For Third Or Fourth Time

The until recently mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent has had it up to here with the indignities of modern day journalism and will ragequit his job at the once venerable Metropolis newspaper, The Daily Planet, this week, citing disgust with his employers' reliance on vapid entertainment stories and their abandonment of proper news. We know this because it was reported by USA Today.

Jane Labowitch Draws Mario, Pokemon, Scott Pilgrim And 'V' On The Pocket Etch-A-Skech [Art]

An awful lot of art comes across our collective desk here at ComicsAlliance, but occasionally we see something so different, creative and awesome that we can't wait to share it. Case in point, the incredible Jane Labowich, who draws truly incredible portraits of pop culture icons on her preferred medium, the pocket Etch-A-Sketch.

As pointed out by Kotaku, she's taken on a few of our favorite things, including Pokémon, Scott Pilgrim, V For Vendetta and more! Check out a few of our favorites after the cut!

Dark Horse To Publish Cameron Stewart's 'Sin Titulo' In 2013

After five years as a webcomic, Cameron Stewart's creepy and oddly beautiful series Sin Titulo has completed its run and is being prepared for print publication next year from Dark Horse Comics, bringing its unsettling surreality to a whole new audience unprepared for what's to come.

Cartoonist Fired From Student Newspaper For Homophobic Comic Strip

The University of Arizona is at the center of controversy after the publication of a cartoon in its student newspaper that clearly crossed the line between "edgy comedy" and "hate speech," leading to thousands of complaints and the cartoonist's dismissal from the paper.

Bizarro Back Issues: Dracula Fights The Silver Surfer Because of Reasons (1976)

Halloween is right around the corner, boils and ghouls, and that means that my fascination with the stranger side of comics veers ever so slightly towards the macabre. And for my money, there is nothing more laden with terror (and truly awesome comics) than Comicdom's #1 Fear Magazine, The Tomb of Dracula! So what better way to celebrate Halloween than with the most terrifying tale ever told about the Lord of the Vampires?

You know, the one where he fights a guy from outer space who flies around on a surfboard. That's scary, right?

What is Ewing & McCarthy's 'The Zaucer of Zilk' About?

Brendan McCarthy and Al Ewing's The Zaucer of Zilk came out this week, the first volume of a two-part story. It's a doozy of a comic, psychedelia crashing up against a traditional hero narrative and crossed with a slice of social commentary. It's bright, it's stunning, and you need it in your life. It's a cliche, but you won't find much like The Zaucer of Zilk on the stands. Not a lot of comics are mining the same veins as The Zaucer of Zilk, and that alone makes it worthy of a look. What's going to keep you looking, keep you reading, is the story that McCarthy and Ewing have cooked up for you, a story about growing old and being young and figuring out the right thing to do at the right moment. Stick with me. I'm going to try and figure out what The Zaucer of Zilk is about.

Chogokin King Robo Mickey & Friends Action Figure Is Like A Disney Megazord

Perhaps the most profound fusion between classic Disney characters and Japanese pop culture since Kingdom Hearts has arrived, and it's a giant combining piloted mecha versions of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto and his dog house, Goofy, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and a mini Steamboat Willie. Call it "Disney Voltron," "Disney Megazord" or whatever shorthand you prefer, Bandai's Chogokin King Robo Mickey & Friends will debut in the flesh plastic at the Tamashii Nation 2012 event on October 26. Set to retail for 13,440 Yen (roughly $170 USD) when it arrives in Japan in March, the assembled action figure will stand about 8.7" tall. In keeping with Disney's mostly family-friendly image, the robot doesn't come with a giant laser sword or other weapons and seemingly lacks the capacity to wield any, period. Consider this challenge to use the power of my imagination accepted, Disney and Bandai. You can check out more images of Chogokin King Robo Mickey & Friends after the jump.

Crowd Funding Watch: Political Cartoonist Matt Bors' 'Life Begins At Incorporation' [Interview]

With the growing appeal of crowd funded projects through platforms like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo, ComicsAlliance has decided to dedicate a weekly column highlighting some of the more promising projects that deserve to be funded.

Having worked on several Kickstarter projects over the last couple of years -- all of which have been successfully funded, and all have delivered final products or are continuing to deliver assets to backers as the final product is completed -- I use this space every week to spotlight a new project that appears to have what it takes to deliver a professional product by giving readers the run down on What It Is, How Much It Will Cost, What You Will Get, When You Will Get It, and Why You Should Care.

In this week's column, War Is Boring artist and political cartoonist Matt Bors talks with ComicsAlliance about his Kickstarter project Life Begins at Incorporation.

Museums: Alabama's The History Museum of Mobile is hosting a new superhero exhibit, "Up, Up & Away: Evolution of the American Comic Book Superhero," which includes sequential art material going back to the Renaissance. (Thanks to CA reader Kevin for the heads up) [AL]

Full 'Iron Man 3' Trailer Arrives Online [Video]

Ah, that's more like it. Following yesterday's 17-second teaser and a slightly more substantial rollout of stills and a proper movie poser for Iron Man 3, iTunes Movie Trailers has finally released a meaty full trailer for the upcoming May 3 movie release. From the looks of the trailer, all of Tony Stark's signature swagger seen in the first two Iron Man films, as well as in The Avengers movie will -- as the official plot synopsis has mentioned -- give way to some serious grief when everything the hero holds dear (for instance, Pepper Potts and his previous seven suits of armor) gets threatened by the new movie Mandarin. You can catch the full Iron Man 3 trailer past the cut.
