Clipping away the moments that make up a dull day, Floyd’s 99 is the original rock n’ roll barbershop.  Nestled in the heart of downtown La Grange, Floyd’s has been replacing the status quo here with style and a stress-free zone since the shop opened a year and a half ago.

Besides their own radio station, Floyd’s has their own version of “The Wall,” where the gods of rock gaze down upon sleek, black-leather barber chairs and an elite team of stylists and barbers. Think: Pink Floyd meets Floyd the Barber.

Highlighting the natural affinity between music and fashion, the shop is known for its high-end services like hot-lather shaves and expert hair coloring for men and women, all at lower-end prices.

Located in many of the major cities across the United States, Floyd’s is the fastest growing group of barbershops in the country. Besides a shop in La Grange, there are five other Chicago-area locations: Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, Park Ridge, Wrigleyville and the West Loop.  A sixth location will open this fall in the South Loop.

The shops have topped the nation’s pop culture charts in their own way.  For instance, Katy Perry used one in her “Hot n’ Cold” video and 20th Century Fox used them all this spring to promote their new “Three Stooges” movie.  And last March, Floyd’s in La Grange raised nearly $24,000 for the St. Baldrick’s haircutting event they organized at Palmer Place.

If you live in La Grange, walk in and rock out.  If you live somewhere else, don’t worry, it won’t be long until a Floyd’s is kicking around on a piece of ground in your own hometown.
