That's a shame about no wireless multiplayer for GBA, especially considering Mario Kart is one of the GBA games.

This also pops the question on when the Wii U comes out, if Nintendo will update the Wii system, where anyone can transfer their save data and purchased WiiWare & VC games from the Wii to the Wii U system. I ask that because of the probability of having the flash drive starting to tire out from moving data from the SD card to the flash drive hundreds of times over, where the Wii U won't be as painful to it, thanks to a bigger flash drive and the ability to have either a SD card and/or an external hard drive. (Will the Wii U USB ports accept laptop, desktop or both external drives?)

@Dragoon You can still use the save functions included in the Game Boy Advance games themselves. Restore Point functionality will be available for "priority" NES games eventually and VC Suspend will be available from the off.

Nah, I don't know. But all of this sounds good. I just wish we got to know all the games we're getting.

I wish they would hurry up and reveal what the rest of the ambassador games are and when the free GBA games will be released.

The lack of sleep mode and HOME menu access in GBA games is pretty nasty.

When I read the word "scheme" I think it is referring to something nefarious. Also, it's kinda late, but marketing wise, I'd rather have been labelled an N-bassador.

Well, if you transfer them you wont be able to have them on the system you had them on before the transfer. It's not copying the games just moving the games from one system to another.

You can't just transfer them freely. Only if you want to transfer all of your data to a different console and erase it from the original.

Well, it would've been nice if the GBA games could be suspended, but it's neat that all the games can be transferred. The rest of the games might not be announced until the first batch of NES games come out.

i like the sound of a "3DS Transfer Tool" but will it be only for games or can i transfer my whole system to another 3DS? (a super awesome red one for example) i want to transfer everything. miis, club nintendo account, playcoins, and all the cool stuff on my activity log.

i like to look at the activity log with all the icons of all the games i have, and the amount of time ive played them. i'm pretty proud of how long it took me to complete Oot, and how long it took me to play through all the endings of 999.

VC Suspend means a temporary save. It's handy for games you can't save (like the original Super Mario bros). As soon as you go back to the title screen, it's gone though.

Do only US gamers get an ambassador confirmation? I got squat :S I sent an email to Nintendo last Monday and they told me that there wouldn't be a confirmation. Then why do US gamers get a confirmation and E.U. gamers don't?

If you've played any of the Virtual Console games on the 3DS, the Resort Point function is in the Virtual Console menu - it lets you create a savestate of sorts, so you can load up to that point again whenever you want.

VC Suspend's basically the same as on Wii Virtual Console games as well, it remembers your place even after you've gone back to the menu. At least, I think it does.

Well apparently only those falling under Nintendo of America jurisdiction get the confirmation. I too got nothing, so let's just hope that the program works for everyone as expected and we simply get the free stuff when it's due. Because if not, things will get ugly...

Wow, that really sucks about the lack of wireless functionality for GBA games. Mario Kart Super Circuit had awesome multiplayer.

Kid A, its a hardware issue not a software issue. The old games were designed to function with a link cable but the 3DS doesn't support one.

Oh well. I wish you could save your NES game without having to leave it on. Especially with such crap battery.

Agree, since NES games did not have wireless support either.

None of this is really a surprise, except for the lack of save state on GBA games. Hopefully, that's only because they're rushing them out, and eventually the games will be released for everyone and updated for ambassadors like the NES games.

Disappointed about the lack of GBA multiplayer =/ Can't complain, though, I love my 3ds!

What are they doing? people are buying second hand 3DS's so they can get some free games that they're not really entitled to but they are still picking up systems and then buy the over priced games... I'm not entirely happy about the transfers, I had a DS XL and I saw the DS ware games they looked pretty good, I like Nintendo do the same for the 3DS, also I wonder as the 3DS is region locked that has effected sales?

For those people who bought their 3DS in the last couple of days at Walmart and Target for the new 169.99 low price.

@Henmii That's not quite right.

On the 3DS, VC Suspend works exactly the same as suspend saves work for the VC on the Wii....if you get up to a certain point and want to play another game, you just hit 'Home' and quit, and then the next time you load in your VC game you carry on from where you left off (but it deletes the suspend save in the process).

Restore Points however, are like snapshot saves on most emulators and are permanent unless you manually delete them or manually save over them.

@Token_Girl You'll still be able to just hit the pause button and then close your 3DS over to put it into Sleep mode if you need to stop playing before you get to a proper save point, as long as you don't turn the 3DS itself off.

@Bass_XO: Obviously can't be a hardware issue otherwise it would be pointless to release 4 Swords, as that is multiplayer only. Unless it was one of the games that supported the Wireless link accessory. (I think it shipped with Pokemon or something? Never owned one myself.)

A hardware issue that can be resolved via software. Emulators on the PC can implement multiplayer. Why wouldn't Nintendo be able to implement it on the 3DS? If they cared, I mean.

I didn't really know that scheme was generally a bad thing in America, but I suppose thats something I've learnt today... however, a scheme in Britian is basically the same as a program, for example in my town we have 'play schemes' where parents send their children weekly to the local family centre to take part in activites like crafting and sports...

Ugh. Nintendo's going to segment their VC service again. Certain platforms get the suspend feature and multiplayer, while others are left out. It's the same thing they did with the N64 VC games (no suspend points, while all the other systems got it).

Why are people so hung up on the word "scheme"? Surely it's not very important. And anyway, they all need to remember that this is the "English" language and not the "American" language. If other nations that use the "English" language want to twist it then that's their problem.

Oh wait, I get it now. Most N64 and GBA games allowed you to save anywhere, so there's no point in having restore points for those platforms.

Early platforms like the Super NES only allowed you to save after a certain point in the game; and most NES and Game Boy games didn't allow saves at all, so it makes sense to have restore points for those platforms (allowing you to pause wherever and resume playing later).

So, will this 3DS transfer tool transfer everything, including footsteps/playtime, StreetPass games info etc ?

In my dictionary -

So, whilst it can be used to mean "mischievous plot", it also means "systematic arrangement" and more importantly "artful plot", which I translate as "great idea".

Whats bothering me is that I didnt recieve a notification saying I was an Ambassador despite logging into the eShop continually. Did anyone else not get an eShop notification or is it just me?

Well I can’t see anything bad in these details. Except for missing GBA multiplayer that is. Which is very unfortunate and seems strange to me since the NES games will get wireless multiplayer. It would be great if Nintendo would clarifiy what’s up with missing multiplayer in VC and GBA games.

I'm in the UK and got the notification both as new on the eshop and as a notification on the home screen. Must be a glitch in the system somehow. Hope you still get the free games.

If for some reason I didn't get these free games I would ragequit from the 3DS! >:U (for five minutes - then I'd play some OoT..)

Anyway, i just visited the source link and was quite surprised to see that even "SpotPass and StreetPass will not function during gameplay" in the GBA games. These are going to be a strange differences from all other games on the 3DS. _{I guess they'll try to make 'em work like the NES titles if they release 'em for everyone one day.}

It's still worrying that people who did visit the eShop may not be able to get the 20 free games. Hopefully they get these online tools sorted out quickly to avoid trouble.

I just realized something. I don't think any of the GBA games announced have multiplayer. Wario Ware has single system multiplayer, and Yoshi's Island has the Mario Bros.game, which isn't that great to begin with. Not sure if Dr. Wario had multiplayer with it.
