Bud Sagendorf (w & a & c)
Is this a horror comic or a humor comic? Chills or chuckles?!

Island!' An amphibious tale of phantoms and monsters of the
darkness—starring POPEYE!" But wait, there's more! Bud
introduces a second story by penning these words: "Thimble Theater
presents a heart-warming homespun tale of pugilistic love entitled
SMASH!" This arf-filled issue of vintage One-Eyed Sailor, Olive Oyl
and Swee'pee comics also includes the usual wonderful Sagendorf
one-pagers and a very special way-cool map of Popeye's

Award-winning comic Mash-up Kill Shakespeare Returns to IDW with New Limited Series
San
Diego, CA (October 11, 2012) – IDW Publishing is proud to
announce the return of the acclaimed comic series Kill
Shakespeare to comic shelves! The first issue of the
new five-issue limited series, entitled The Tide of
Blood, will hit comic shops across North America and
Europe in February of 2013.
Series co-creators Anthony Del Col and
Conor McCreery returned to pen the five issues and
original artist Andy Belanger is back as the
series artist (and also adds cover artist duties). All three are at
this week’s New York Comic Con to officially
launch the new arc as well as present a special live stage reading
based on the first twelve issues of the series that The New
York Times called: “gripping, violent, dark,
fun.”
The five-issue series – a continuation from the first two
books – will follow Hamlet, Juliet, Othello and Romeo as they
face their biggest threat – Prospero, a rogue wizard who
plans to destroy all of creation. Hamlet must embark on a
perilous journey to a remote island whose inhabitants have gone mad
and want the Dane’s blood – if a love triangle and
Cupid’s poisoned bow doesn’t kill Hamlet first.

Kill Shakespeare: Live Stage Reading makes American Convention Debut at NYCC 2012!
San
Diego, CA (October 10, 2012) – Fresh off playing to packed
and enthusiastic audiences in Tucson and Montreal last month, an
abridged version of Kill Shakespeare: The Live Stage
Reading – based on the successful IDW Publishing
comic book series – makes its American comic convention debut
this Saturday at the New York Comic Con.
The show will run on Saturday, October 13th at 11am on the Variant
Stage and will be free for any New York Comic Con attendee.
Adapted by comic creators Anthony Del Col and
Conor McCreery, The Live Stage Reading
provides viewers with a unique mixture of comic art,
radio-play-style drama, music, and audience interaction.
“I think fans of the Bard, fans of comics, and especially
fans of fantasy adventure or literary mash-up tales like Kill
Shakespeare are going to have a great time,” says
McCreery. “The show is unlike anything else
you’ll find at comic-cons and the ability for audience
members to play a part is something that has gone over really
well.”

IDW Flies High on the Augusta Wind!
Adventure is King in J.M. DeMatteis and Vassilis Gogtzilas’ New Miniseries!
San Diego, CA
(October 8, 2012) – IDW Publishing is happy to announce
THE ADVENTURES OF AUGUSTA WIND, a brand-new, creator-owned
miniseries from the incredible imaginations of veteran writer
J.M. DeMatteis (Brooklyn Dreams,
Abadazad) and astonishing artist Vassilis
Gogtzilas!
"I've long loved J.M. DeMatteis' writing," said Chris
Ryall, IDW's Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief, "and
his ability to tell a captivating, action-filled, and heartfelt
story is something he does better than just about anyone. It's
great to be doing a book like Augusta Wind that plays to
all these strengths in a story that will appeal to audiences young
and old. And Vassilis' visuals perfectly
complement the story's tone and deliver nicely upon the bizarre and
charming characters and environments that appear in this
story."
In this thrillingly imaginative, all-ages miniseries, we follow the
title character, young heroine Augusta Wind, across five issues of
eye-popping, otherworldly realms as she uncovers and chases down
her destiny. Visited out-of-the-blue by the Snabbit, a
half-snake/half-rabbit, Augusta must leave all she knows behind to
leap through colorful, magically envisioned worlds full of
unbelievable creatures, high adventure, and heroic mystery!
