Brubaker, Fraction And Hickman Conclude Long-Running 'Captain America,' 'Iron Man' And 'FF' Series

It's an auspicious but decidedly bittersweet day for fans of writers Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction and Jonathan Hickman, all of whose most popular Marvel Comics series come to a close with today's final issues of Captain America, Invincible Iron Man and FF. In a superhero comics business where creators frequently seem like hired guns dispatched to fulfill brief and arbitrary editorial missions, these writers have remained with their respective characters for uncommonly long and notably authoritative runs.

Taiwan's NMA News Explains Clark Kent Quitting His Job

You'd think that after all this time, Taiwan's NMA and their dodgy, computer-animated recaps of top news stories would have stopped being hilarious. And yet, here we are, with yet another truly surreal take on the news of the day. And this time, it's about Superman.

Specifically, they're covering the news that Clark Kent is walking out of his job at the Daily Planet for the third or fourth first time ever, and speculating on what that means for the Man of Steel's career options. Will he take to blogging in a Starbucks, or just sit around getting high with Wonder Woman until Lois Lane finally kicks him out? Find out in the video after the cut!

This year's winner of the Eisner award for Best Anthology, Dark Horse Presents has been one of ComicsAlliance's favorite titles since it was relaunched in 2011 to continue the classic and influential series' tradition of showcasing emerging talent alongside some of the greatest writers, artists and cartoonists mainstream and underground comics has to offer. Each issue comes with quirky, undiluted excursions into the minds of uniquely talented creators, usually with immersive new serials or idiosyncratic short stories but also in the form of recurring, cult favorite characters and properties for which Dark Horse has served as caretaker for many years.

We've formalized our Dark Horse Presents coverage with this first installment of a new regular feature that will spotlight the latest or upcoming issues with exclusive first-look artwork and remarks from DHP creators and editors. With issue #17 on sale today, series Assistant Editor Jim Gibbons tells us about the contributions of Finder creator Carla Speed McNeil and shows off pages by Sam Keith and John Layman (new Aliens!), Tony Puryear (new Concrete Park!), Jimmy Palmiotti & Justin Gray and Tony Akins (new Deep Sea!), Richard Corben (new Edgar Allan Poe's The Sleeper!), Michael Avon Oeming (a new story, The Sacrifice!), Michael T. Ennis and Robertson's 'The Boys' Banned in Qatar

Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson and Russ Braun's The Boys is a series that makes a point out of mining the darker underbelly of the superhero genre, in the process exposing more violent and sexual elements than many are comfortable with... including, it seems, one Middle Eastern country which has apparently banned the series after a reader tried to have copies shipped to her.

Mark Waid & Leinil Yu's Plans For Hulk: 'Bring The Sexy Back'

Among the many Marvel Comics characters who are part of the publisher's Marvel NOW relaunch initiative is of course the Hulk, who's now quite the star thanks to some scene-stealing moments in Joss Whedon's Avengers film. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962, Bruce Banner and his destructive alter ego have gone through numerous variations over the decades -- different colors, different personalities, different powers and even different planets -- but what's generally always remained consistent is the character's central dramatic desire: to cure himself of the Hulk. But in the forthcoming Indestructible Hulk series, readers will meet a Bruce Banner who's resigned to his fate, keen to do what he can to compensate for the actions of his monstrous other persona, and integrated into the broader Marvel Universe as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The series reunites writer Mark Waid and artist Leinil Yu, creators of the celebrated Superman: Birthright graphic novel that put forth what many fans hold up as the best modern expression of the Man of Steel's origin story. The pair participated in a conference call with members of the press to discuss Indestructible Hulk, which artist Yu said he's using as an opportunity to "bring the sexy back" to the giant green monster.

The Worst And Weirdest Store-Bought Comics & Games Costumes For Halloween 2012

Halloween is upon us, and as far as I'm concerned that means one thing above all others: Costumes! Admittedly, we here at ComicsAlliance are pretty obsessed with costumes in general, but this is the one time of year where the whole world gets into the act. And as a result, it's also the one time where you can actually just stroll into your local department store and walk out with a superhero costume!

Of course, that doesn't always work out for the best. That's why it is time once again to sift through all the horrors that store-bought costumes have to offer as I break down the worst and weirdest! And as you can already tell, it involves Sexy V For Vendetta.

Funko Reveals 'Masters Of The Universe' Pop Vinyl Figures

Mattel's been showcasing scads of new Masters of the Universe figures, plus the tentative Castle Grayskull since NYCC, but it appears another toy company will also be contributing to a very Eternian-stocked 2013. Following an initial product image of its upcoming Pop Vinyl MotU figures, Funko has released hi-res images of 3.75" versions of He-Man, She-Ra, Skeletor, Hordak and Spikor - all brandishing their signature weapons. An official release date for the figures has yet to be announced, but preorder sites will likely begin stocking the figures for around $10-12 before long. Of the five figures, Spikor seems a bit like the odd evil man out in the otherwise star-studded line. I mean, Spikor is neat and all, but surely Funko would rather release Pop Vinyl versions of Modulok and Multi-Bot?... please? You can see images of the upcoming Masters of the Universe Pop Vinyl figures from Funko after the jump.

Allison Hoffman's Amigurumi Brings Yarn Versions Of Your Favorite Characters To Life [Art]

We've profiled some awesome amigurumi artists here at CA, but somehow we missed the comprehensively amazing works of Allison Hoffman. As spotlighted by Conan O'Brien, Pee-Wee Herman, Jimmy Kimmel, Martha Stewart and more, the artist has a way with yarn. From a dignified Wonder Woman, a sweet Astro Boy and charming Doctor Who protagonist lineup to a disarmingly cute pair of Breaking Bad bros, nothing seems to stand in the way of Hoffman's talents. Not one to keep her skills a secret, Hoffman even hosts a number of her patterns online for free to share the joy of creating your favorite characters from scratch. Of course, if you don't think you've got the fingers to match Hoffman, you can always browse her online shop or commission a specific creation you'd like to own. You can see a selection of our favorite amigurumi pieces by Hoffman after the jump.
