I've been leveling my monk lately, and let me tell you ... one of the best classes to level. The ability where I instant kill an enemy every 90 seconds (if the mob has equal or less HP then me) is amazing. It really adds a new dynamic when taking on multiple groups of mobs; namely that there is no dynamic. BAM. Head shot.

And then the daily you get to do to get the 50% XP buff adds just a whole 'nother level of awesome. The levels just fly by, and with all the heirlooms you feel quite over powered. So much fun.

Mauricio asked:

Not sure if this been asked before, but does anyone think we'll get playable Hozen and Jinyu later on this expansion, and Blizz just needed us to meet them first so people would be interested in playing them later?

Patch 5.1: Upgrading your pets with stones

In patch 5.1 you'll have the chance to get a reward from defeating any pet out in the Unova wild, this reward is a stone that will grant your pet a quality increase to rare. This is important for many reasons, but particularly because in my experience (and as it would stand to reason) the rare pets do much better against gym master trainers throughout the world. It becomes doubly so when you start to go after the Northrend, Cataclysm, and Pandaria trainers.

For now these stones, called Flawless-Battlestones, will only upgrade your pet to a rare quality. Later on after patch 5.1 Blizzard will enable stones to upgrade your pet to an epic quality. Stones will also work on wild (caught) and non-wild (TCG, vendor, quest, achievement, etc.) pets.

The one thing to watch out for is that these stones come in two flavors: a general purpose stone, and a family specific stone. Family specific means that the stone will only upgrade a pet of the family that's specified on it, for instance aquatic or undead. General stones will work on every pet family type.

This stone system should really make it quite a bit more advantageous to use non-rare pets initially. Quite the nice little upgrade!

Mists of Pandaria is here! The level cap has been raised to 90, many players have returned to Azeroth, and pet battles are taking the world by storm. Keep an eye out for all of the latest news, and check out our comprehensive guide to Mists of Pandaria for everything you'll ever need to know.

I found something out yesterday.

If you're flying around in your two-person rocket mount and your goal is to dismount high up and kill your flying companion, you can't. They'll get a parachute and you'll end up dead in a Stormwind fountain.

D'oh.

FBxxk asked:

There is a HUGE amount of people who are rude in LFR... are there any guides to the bosses?

World of Warcraft Patch 5.1 PTR Patch Notes

Well that didn't take long... the patch notes for the patch 5.1 PTR have been released today. There is no information as to when the patch will release.

Some highlights from the patch notes:
  • The conflict between the Horde and the Alliance has ignited a new series of daily quests along the shore of the Krasarang Wilds.
  • Players can visit their faction strongholds in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms to begin the quest to summon their war fleets to the continent of Pandaria. (Please note: The Alliance version of this quest is not yet complete, but will still unlock the new missions and features).
  • Two new Reputations have been added: Alliance players can earn reputation with Operation: Shieldwall, while Horde players will curry favor with the Dominance Offensive.
  • Players can slay rival NPCs and opposing faction players along the shore to earn commissions that can be spent to upgrade their faction's base.
  • Look for strategic objectives to capture, including graveyards and towers. Commissions can be spent to recruit guards that will help protect this captured territory!
  • A new item has been introduced that can be used to upgrade the quality of Battle Pets: Battle-stones.
  • Underground fighting rings have sprung up in Stormwind and Orgrimmar that will give brawlers a chance to earn bragging rights by testing their solo PvE mettle against some of the toughest creatures found in World of Warcraft.
The full patch notes after the break.

We'll just begin today.

My friend is dying. He has pancreatic cancer and it's terminal as hell. We have been playing WoW together since vanilla and now I have inherited his account. I don't want his long loved characters to die with him, but I also cannot afford to pay for two accounts.

He has merged lots of other WoW accounts into his bnet account so I cannot merge it with mine. And since we're not the same creator of our accounts, I cannot transfer his characters to mine. Is there a way to keep his characters alive? Can Blizzard support remove the other old WoW accounts from his account or is there another way to merge his mage, paladin and priest onto my account?

Thank you,
B and J

My deepest condolences for what everyone is going through.

Pet Battles training cost reduced to 10g

Cory Stockton tweeted this afternoon an important update to the cost of pet battles: instead of the old 100g training, the price has been reduced to 10g. There has been a lot of people in the community claiming that 100g was too high a cost for the feature, and that it should be lower.

Previously Blizzard has said they wanted to keep it high to stop people from thinking that it was a main part of the game, when in reality it's a side game. They didn't want people to get distracted from the real point -- leveling up your character. While that's not an issue for those of us that have played WoW for a long time, the whole system can seem like a gigantic thing to new folks -- and one that might confuse them as to what they're supposed to be doing.

Stockton's tweet is as follows:

World of Warcraft population swells over 10 million, Mists of Pandaria sells 2.7 million

Blizzard has seen overall subscription numbers increase to 10 million with the successful launch of Mists of Pandaria last week, which itself has sold 2.7 million copies already. It is important to note that these numbers do not include the impact from the China release of the game, which just happened on October 2.

The partial (and important part) of Blizzard's press release is as follows:

Blizzard Entertainment
ALLIANCE AND HORDE ARMIES GROW WITH LAUNCH OF MISTS OF PANDARIA™

New World of Warcraft® expansion sells 2.7 million copies in first week -- global subscriber base passes 10 million

PARIS, France -- October 4, 2012 -- Following the September 25 global rollout of World of Warcraft®: Mists of Pandaria™, the new expansion to the world's #1 subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced that millions of players have already joined the fight for Pandaria. During the first week of launch, prior to the release in China on October 2, the expansion had already sold through approximately 2.7 million copies and the game's global player base passed 10 million subscribers, with growth across all major regions.*

"With Mists of Pandaria, we set out to expand on the sense of fun and discovery that's always been at the heart of World of Warcraft -- in addition to adding a huge variety of new content and features to the game," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "It's been gratifying to see the results of all of the work we put into this expansion and to hear all of the positive feedback from players so far."

The World of Warcraft development team is already hard at work on the first major post-launch content update. Further details, including features and release timing, will be provided in the weeks ahead.
