Make holiday memories in Lake Geneva

The Lake Geneva area has always been the place to create wonderful holiday memories – and, this year, there are even more reasons for your audience to enjoy a visit. From appearances by Santa, his elves and live reindeer to exciting tree-lighting events and a quaint reading of a classic holiday story, guests are invited to experience the holidays the way they’ve been enjoyed in the Lake Geneva area for more than a century. The area’s holiday season kicks off this month and includes:

  • Christmas in the Country – The 18th annual six-week long celebration from November 18 through December 30.  More than one million lights illuminate the 1,300 Grand Geneva Resort & Campus.  Festivities include “Hooray for Holidays” musical show, breakfasts with Santa, afternoon holiday teas, a gingerbread house competition, trolley tours of the lights and much more.  Come see one of the Midwest’s largest lighting displays indoors and out.
  • Holiday Open House Weekend – The Lake Geneva area is the perfect destination to check off your shopping list while checking into some R&R. During the Holiday Open House Weekend, November 10 and 11, visitors will get a first-look at the area’s most unique gift offerings for the season.
  • Santa, His Elves and LIVE Reindeer – Children are invited to visit with Santa, his elves and live reindeer on December 1, 8, 15 and 22, to share their wishes, capture photos and pet the reindeer on the lawn of Starbucks from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors will also find Santa strolling through the streets on downtown on December 2, 9, 16 and 23 and at the Great Electric Children’s Christmas Parade.
  • Area Caters to the Spirit of Christmas – From the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa’s Christmas in the Country that kicks off on November 18 with an Illumination Ceremony of more than one million lights to musical productions and holiday tea times, themed celebrations at area destinations let visitors step back in time with a nostalgic holiday experience. Other activities include a trolley tour of lights, Yuletide bonfires, photos with Santa and more.
  • The Festival of Lights and Great Electric Children’s Parade – Visitors will experience the small-town joys of the holidays November 30 and December 1. Events include a holiday story time, tree lighting and parade featuring Santa, his elves and live reindeer.

In addition to holiday activities, the Lake Geneva area offers additional ways to embrace the season outdoors. Snowboarding and skiing, both downhill and cross-country, can be found at area parks and resorts. Brave fishermen are invited to tap Geneva Lake for a fresh catch, while others may chose to get revved up on the area’s many snowmobiling trails. Adventure seekers can enjoy the height of winter with a zip line canopy tour of snow covered trees. Or, step back in time with a horse-drawn carriage ride throughout the historic neighborhood of Lake Geneva or a sleigh ride through powdery fields, ending with a bonfire in the woods. Sledding, ice skating and snowshoeing abound in the Lake Geneva area and can be capped off with a warm beverage from a variety of coffee houses and eateries in town.

We invite you to include the Lake Geneva area in your holiday coverage. Holiday activities here are sure to warm the hearts and fuel the imagination of your audience.
